disgraceful Carling Cup final

February 26th, 2007

Matthew and I was at Lewis and Cavelyn’s, home of Arsenal fans, and enjoyed a bittersweet evening watching the finals of the Carling Cup over Chinese tea. It was an exciting and absorbing match, not just for the silky skills and movement of the Arsenal young gunners, but also the crucial one-sided decisions of a referee who blew the whistle in the direction of the Russian rouble, the kick in Terry’s head that knocked him unconscious and delayed play for eight minutes, and the shocking fist fight and scuffles and outbursts among the shirt-pulling, delay-making, unsporting millionaire Chelsea players and the young Arsenal punks who lost their cool. Maybe one day we’ll have to grade soccer games too- PG or R(A) for foul language, cheating and violence. Typical British soccer final where you often feel the referee decided the match, not the players skill and teamwork.

I told my wife I’d be back after the first half, but time easily flew and we watched through the whole game.

I agree. We’d have to grade soccer matches. It was a disgraceful end to a good game initially.

It seems like scuffles tend to happen when we’re talking about egoistical bosses. But I thought Chelsea were very arrogant in their approach to the game and it was just not nice to see Lampard react the way he did. It was also true that the Gunners lost their cool but they’re young and hot-blooded. Even I as a spectator thought Chelsea were arrogant….I can only imagine how the players on the pitch feel.

Sigh. Disgraceful.

Now I know I do not have the gift of prohesy. I told you Arsenal will win but they lost. Thank God I did not stay up and watch if not I will be like a zombie in the office.I am glad MU had such a great week so is my rival Liverpool.

I caught glimpses of the game. Missed the fighting. The best way to get players to behave in the pitch is to take away a point from teams that have more than one player sent off. Or maybe take away half a point for every player who gets the red card.

Truly agreed with Bolivian Beat by deducting points but sadly this is a Cup Final, perhaps disallowing the ‘cheat’ offside goal will be great!!

Still very sad & very boiled, over the arrogance of Chelsea manager & players, sorry Joshua & Matthew, just can’t tahan their everything!! Ei, but Matthew was very mild & supportive of Arsenal that night, perhaps give face to us, dare not comment too much. Hahaha……I just like my cool professor Arsene Wenger, he look poise, neat & upright professional, as compared to the other one!! :)
