kinabalu: moving on and ahead
I was encouraged last week that Peter Lim mentioned he was willing to lead out the next kinabalu youth adventure. Peter has been a great help to me especially with the climb trainings and the advice he gives. He is a marathoner and he climbed Low’s Peak with ease in Mar 2005 in our first youth adventure. He also commands the respect of the youth, so this is an interesting development for a work that develops leadership with physical challenges, fun and excitement that appeals to males, something that they are comfortable with, that they can excel in. (If all we have is small groups and sharing thoughts and feelings, young girls and the bookish will thrive but the more hands-on and practical guys will be less confident). Giving greater scope to development of men in our church is important. The other guy for the long haul I am looking at is Julian Tan, on the left in the pic above, and Marcus. Just ideas and praying, just praying. Also Barny, me roomate, thinking out loud, mentioned he may want to organize one for the young adults. (Probably he’s thinking more retreat-like kind of thing). Wow!
Setting off this Friday, better stop rambling and start packing ……
