the really poor
Rudyard Kipling won the Nobel Prize for literature. He wrote the book titled “Jungle Book” which was made into a movie. One of Kipling’s memorable speeches was a commencement address at Mc Gill University in Montreal. Warning the graduates against overconcern for worldly honors and wealth, he said, “Someday you will meet a person who cares for none of these things. Then you will know how really poor you are.”
I thought as Harry’s Island (Singapore) enters another period of prosperity, this would be a timely and useful reminder for all of us.
