selamat hari raya adilfitri
October 13th, 2007
I wish all Muslims a Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. May the festive season be a blessed one for all. Something I like about their holiday is the customary asking of forgiveness among family members. If done with sincerity it can be very healing. Nothing like that in the Chinese festivals. For Christians it should be daily in our prayers (’Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us’) and as often as we take bread together and ‘discern’ the unity of the body of Christ. Can a ritual be cultivated among Christians where we ask forgiveness from our parents, whether Christian or non-Christians? Chinese New Year? Ching Ming?

Another ground breaking prophetic post from blogpastor in his greeting to Muslims.
Christians and Muslims should try and build good relationships through gestures like sending greetings to one another. These little acts of courtesy and respect will help to create a good atmosphere between religious groups. And this accumulated goodwill will be important as we try to come together and resolve problems in the future. Encounters between religious groups does not imply compromising our faith or our beliefs.
Thanks for this post. I just wish that more Malaysian Christians are able to think like you - more so that we are in a predominantly Islamic context!
I think we have much to learn from our Muslim friends in asking for forgiveness from one another.
Selamat Hari Raya - Maaf Zahir Batin
Yes we can all learn something from one another.
Great sentiment.
We must and should be forgiving as we journey and we, ourselves will make many more mistakes and irritate some people some of the time.
We have had more wars and killing in the 20th Century then at any other time in Man’s existence, despite technological advances and a maturing civilization? .
Seems like we need to do is live as instructed by Jesus - Love your God with our all and love your neighbour like ourself - there will be heaven on earth.
Easy to understand but hard to implement?
Thats the rub - seems we have known this secret for about 2000 years but cannot progress
Why?
Can the “Church” ever help?
