This morning, Chua Seng Lee, an ex-FCBC pastor, preached a sermon on knowing God. At the end of the sermon he explained about a manifestation of the Spirit we have heard about but have not experienced as a church. We wiped our hands on our clothes and took a good look at them and verified that our palms were clean and dry. After prayer, a few members went up to the front to show tiny particles on their palm that sparkled. Later on, even more people, including my wife and sceptical ones, observed the phenomenon on their palms and even on their dress. It did not fall from above but just appeared on the hands. One sister said she found that even after washing some remained on the palm. Another brother, a new convert, came to church with pains in his body but after observing the gold on his hand, also experienced a release from his pain. It is called “gold dust” but they were not gold but minute sparkling particles that glinted in the light. Someone said the angels were sweeping the floors of heaven’s gold streets.
We Pentecostals are comfortable with phenomena such as these. We have passed the stage where we get overboard in our reactions to them, either rejecting them as of the devil, or trying to bottle them to sell away. We now receive them with a mixture of welcome and discernment. Although we do not seek them, we feel a sense of wonder, of awe, and see in it a token of His presence. The preacher was careful to tell us not to seek the supernatural sign, nor to build a tabernacle around it, but to look beyond the sign to the source, to God himself.
I googled about this phenomena and there was good said about it and there was an article that said such was the work of the devil. However, when this happened this morning in the worship service, there was great peace, a witness of the Spirit, some doubts(remember the apostles at Jesus’ resurrection) and a ripple of wonder. For us who have experienced revival phenomena from weeping, laughing, dancing, prophesying, public confession of sins, resting in the Spirit, visions, etc. this is just an additional one to the list. We are not going to collect the dust because the price of gold has risen, nor are we going to label it as the work of the devil. We will just give thanks to God for giving us a token of His love and concern for us and continue to grow in grace and the knowledge of God.
Is there lasting fruit from this experience? Who knows? it just happened this morning. For the time being what I have observed is a heightened sense of expectation of God’s activity. Church members are talking about it with a sense of wonder and some debate, and God and his word is getting people’s attention instead of the stock market!
My Mummy says humans might get a bit too impressed with the phenomenon and miss the main message of gold dust.
She says that perhaps what the Lord might be saying through gold dust is that
“Nothing is difficult for Me. Remember, I am generous! What you stinge and grab, I give liberally all around…I am here.”.
Heaven’s streets are paved in gold after all.
He sprinkles the dust around to say: “Hey, thats not a big deal. Here’s to say: I CARE. TRUST ME. I WILL PROVIDE”
Quote……..The preacher was careful to tell us not to seek the supernatural sign, nor to build a tabernacle around it, but to look beyond the sign to the source, to God himself……
I read with wonders and awe, and yet the most important reminder of the sharing of tjos sermon…….it’s all about Him, it’s all about God!! Nothing should ever stand in the way, takes our attention and our awe away from God Himself!
Thank you Pastor Kenny for sharing…God Bless!
Well put
Hi Kenny,
Thanks for sharing this. I have not experienced this personally but have heard about it. It must have been an exciting encounter.
As a medical scientist, I am very curious as what this ‘gold dust’ is. In your research do you know of anyone having analysed the content of this ‘gold dust’ ?
Can someone please send me all their gold dust in a bottle?
Pastor Kenny has my address.
I know many poor children in Bolivia will greatly benefit from this phenomenon.
BolivianBeat,
Your request is a good one. God is DEFINITELY there benefitting the poor children.
Does anyone know who first coined the term “gold dust” to describe this phenomenon? The term evoked a spectrum of emotions and reactions.
What if other terms were used, like say, “heavenly sparkle” or “glory glitter” or “angel dew” or “galaxy glory” or a more modern “glory particles” or “heavenly molecules”.
Would these have evoked less sceptical and negative reactions?
I agree that such an analysis would be interesting, perhaps even enriching?
Yes the message the sign points to is more important than the sign itself. Thanks for reminding us.
Agreed.
For such a good cause, I’ll collect a barrel.
About 5-6 years ago, a similar glittering phenomenon was sweeping the local AOG churches after a South African lady pastor preached on the same subject – her name was Maureen Onions.
The range of manifestation on the assembly was very similar to what BP described from weeping, laughing to the very quiet.
Everything you can imagine is real. ~Pablo Picasso
Did anyone collect some material residues?
Would be interesting to be able to test these residuals by GC-Mass spectral and FT-IR analysis.
Quote…’We Pentecostals are comfortable with phenomena such as these..’ I guess I am not a pentecostal. I find this article very interesting. I have heard of these ‘gold dust’ before but did not give it a second thought. Now it is closer to home. I guess I am curious as to the purpose of this. Why such a sign? A couple of the comments points to God ( the source) and that nothing is impossible with Him. Agreed. But what was the message? Why this sign and why now? I am not dismissing this out of hand. Just trying to understand. Perhaps it was a rhema moment for WRPF and not anyone else.
You are right in nudging us to ponder soberly the specific message for wrpf, beyond the sign of the gold dust.
When I had practice that same afternoon, the worship team was in a totally different atmosphere from the usual practices..
I knew something had happened..something was different on Sunday..
I just didn’t know what was it..
Perhaps now I know =)
Dear friends of WRPF, i am awed with what God is doing more than the sign. Allow me to emphasis again that when i prayed for the sign, it was to ask God to encourage the congregation through physical tangible manifestation of His presence because i felt that God wanted to encourage the church. This was affirmed later by many who came and thanked me for the ministry.
This intention is consistent with the focus of the message ie Knowing God. God want to bless His people through His gospel. This act authenticated that “our gospel does not come with mere words but with demonstration of the Spirit and power”. Signs and wonders are common features in the books of Acts (2:22, 43, 4:30, 5:12, 6:8…). Again, the focus was to glorify God and not the signs.
May God continue His work of Grace in WRPF.
Pastor,
How I wish it was a combined Service where many of the youths can hear what the Lord has to say especially the “be a witness and not a reporter”. The Jesus encounter where our God does not have any Grand children.
Anyway, it was indeed a annointed sermon and we did shared with our son and nephew tonight. Thanks pastor.
have not heard this gold dust phenomenon for a long time, vaguely remember it related to a group worshipping at somewhere in Somerset. There were even speculation that some members’ amalgam tooth fillings turned to gold! Wonder if it works for metal crowns too…coz I have a couple!
Greetings Ps Kenny,
We met at The Writer’s Workshop and I did shared with you that I did personally experienced “gold dust” during a period of God’s visitation in my previous church. What were described in your post about”glitters in the palms” were exactly what I received before. In fact my wife had it all over her clothe and I still have some in my Bible.
Did this happen in your church? Perhaps this may be the beginning the Lord’s visitation. One of your worship team member mentioned that he could sense it. I remembered that during those time of the Lord’s visitation, God’s presence literally fell even during the worship practice time. So get excited worship team …get hungry for not only His visitation but His habitation!
As per the last paragraph of your blog, beyond this “gold dust sign”, what’s more important are the fruits and what is the Lord’s purpose for this tangible sign?
I like to recommend some books:
1) Glory – Experiencing The Atmosphere of Heaven by Ruth Heflin
Sis Ruth has gone home to be with the Lord in 2000 and she has graciously allow free donwload of her book at this link:

Hi All,
If any of you been to David Herzog’s conference last year in m’sia as well as in Penang? you would have encountered the Gold dust phenomenon.
Better part is? my former worship leader’s mother went up with the Senior Pastor to attend the conference in Msia, lo and behold. Whilst she’s been suffering from some tooth decay in recent days, also, dentist of hers told her to get them extracted but she took a rain cheque on that and went up to the conference anyhow.
During Ministry time? she didn’t feel a thing, and when the speaker asked the people to check their neighbors mouth? my WL Mom’s neigbor freaked out as her bottom part stretch of teeth were ALL encased in GOLD (including that decay part) and some top molars? (top part)…
Altogether around 10 tooths were all in GOLD…everyone took a picture of it and she was the talk of the church for several weeks thereafter as everyone wanted to look inside her mouth! haha
And best part is? my former SP saw it with his own eyes (he’s a sceptic)a tiny Red Ruby colored gem stone grew into shape in a little girls palms…
All in? i am for signs and wonders- let’s not keep God in a Box….but hey? go to the source. Yeshua. He’s afterall our everything.
Shalom!
It’s been 2 & 1/2 weeks since the gold dust fell on my palms that Sunday. Some who saw my “sparkling” palms that day and couldn’t see the gold dust on theirs, wondered out loud “how come I don’t have? I was also in the front leh!” I have been asking God why He allowed me to see and I think I have the answer now.
Ever since that day, the presence of God in my life is heightened, not so much in sensation but more so in knowing. I am going thru’ a period of uncertainty and anxiety and trying to gear myself up for changes I feel I cannot overcome, but I now realize that He allowed me this experience to input into me a deeper measure of faith. I am experiencing peace and certainty which I cannot explain. No longer do I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about what my future holds. I have been reminded of Jer 29:11 over and over during the last 2 – 3 years but that promise could not sink in because I did not have faith enough to believe, now I do. Praise God!
So congratulations to those that who did not experience the gold dust effect, for John 20:29 says “…..blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
wow this is amazing! i’ve just recently heard from my friend talking about Joshua Mills and all the gold dust, gems and gold teeth phenomena, but I’ve never experienced it or heard of it in singapore.
God’s miracle wonders are working all over the world!
Hi Barnabas, I believe you are referring to Revelation 21:21 with regards to heaven’s streets.
“Rev 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.”
From plain reading, the street of the city is not “paved” with gold it is actually made of pure gold.
And it is so abundant unlike here on earth the we pave the top layer of our roads with asphalt concrete. That is how abundant gold is in heaven!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
What amazing and wonderful testimonies!!!
Wow,now for the life of me why wouldn’t God just restore a bad tooth back to normal? It is amazing how so-called intelligent people can fall for such childish trickery.Grow up people and act your age!!
It has happened before!
