Only just read this piece of yours (21 April 2010) and I must say I like it alot. Love your humour there, too. Your writing seems to have moved to another plain.

I like this because you express the all-embracing love of God and the wisdom of the Divine Parent!

When a "derivative becomes more valuable than the underlying asset.......an appropriate quote from Tara Stiles at the Huffington Post:

"I've never had a problem with Jesus. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's just the kind of guy you'd always want to have around. But I have had a big problem with his agents, publicists, and managers. They've abused his message for power and converted moldable, excited people into bullied believers and followers. It's time to take Jesus back for the people, and press on with a useful, loving, practical message that can heal us as individuals and the world......."

Hey Kenny!

when I first picked this book up last year to glance through, I at first had probs getting through the earlier parts. I almost didn't buy it, but I did.

At that time, I had just been discussing with Angie, Andrea and a few of my friends about the book and whether it was sound. As I read deeper and deeper into the book, I was so moved and touched by the story of HOW MUCH OUR DADDY GOD LOVES US.

That is the core of the book. God loves us and HOW MUCH!

After reading it and re-reading it again, and using a box of Kleenex, I told Angie- MUST BUY! And we later got Stan and the rest to give it a shot. I later bought several copies to give out, asking each one to keep an open mind as they read it. It's one of those books you must read all the way to really get what the author is trying to say.

I agree with you that the left-brainers and right-brainers will have a diff opinion of the book. Some people are "one track mind" and have problems seeing what the writer is trying to talk about. Either that or they are very critical in spirit and just take bits and parts out to criticize without reading to see the whole picture.

The Shack is really a brilliant book and I've re-read it so many times now. It really exposes to the readers the heart of their Daddy God, something religion can never get us to see.

I notice from reading your website that you too are concerned about freeing the church from the encrustations of traditions and religiosity. Religion kills but the Spirit gives life and liberty.

Great blog! Your comments present a balanced approach to the message of the book that is too often lacking in most reviews. Unfortunately, many critics of The Shack are so blinded by religious prejudice that the essence of the story is lost in a forest of perceived doctrinal suppostions. Whether a person is right or left brained, thinking bound by religion always at best obscures God's nature and often perverts it altogether. When one is willing to risk setting personal opinions regarding doctrine aside to seek a relationship with God that transcends the intellect, the Holy Spirit will have the opportunity to interpret the scriptures for them.

I read the book months ago and the lasting impression I had was that the book gave me a warm and personal feeling towards Daddy God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I like that feeling of closeness to God.
