Have you heard of Prophet Eboh Noah from Ghana? He has been in the news recently because he predicted God would send a universal catastrophic flood that would end the world on the 25th of December 2025. The rains would last for three years and submerge the world.
He claimed that all who enter the ark he had built will be saved. Thousands of Christians believed his video messages on Tik Tok and other platforms. They went viral, and thousands followed him. They packed their belongings and made haste to reach the ark before Christmas Day, only to hear a new announcement on Christmas Eve.
Prophet Eboh Noah, dressed in his usual sackcloth, proclaimed, “Through my prayers, I got a vision. When you look at the number of people coming, the expansion of the ark was necessary ….. I shared the vision with some men of God who prayed and interceded with me, and after the intercession, God has given us some time to build more arks …… Tomorrow, nobody should rush to any location, so please stay home, enjoy yourself and have fun. I am wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”
For sure, his followers did not have a happy holiday because some had burned their bridges: sold houses, lands, businesses, quit their jobs, and waved goodbye. They will have to pick up the piece, mourn great losses, and suffer shame and mockery. There is no reliable news of Prophet Ebo Noah. Some say he was arrested. Some say he fled in his Mercedes.
Was Prophet Eboh Noah a pastor, an itinerant minister or even a Christian at all? A Google search about his religious or Christian background surfaced nothing.
Other influencers have gone to the yard where his arks were being built and exposed his lies. The builders said they had seen the Prophet Eboh in ordinary wear change into his trademark sackcloth costume to make his content near the fishing boats that they were building for a rich man. They had seen the Prophet’s TikTok videos in front of their fishing boats, making false claims that gave them a good laugh.
Prophet Eboh Noah is not a real prophet. He is a content creator who managed to fool thousands of well-meaning but ignorant Christians. I am shocked at what happened and have been reflecting on this event.
This event was evidence that we are living in the last days before the return of Christ. When Jesus revealed the signs of his return, one of them was: “For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.” (Matt24:24) The Prophet did not perform any great signs and wonders and yet people followed him. Can you imagine the scale of deception if a self-proclaimed prophet performed signs and wonders?
The church in Africa was once the fastest-growing church in the world. However, there are many examples, like this one, that show that the church is actually a mammoth orphanage overcrowded with infant Christians. Multitudes are biblically illiterate. Haven’t they read Genesis 9:11, where God declared to Noah after the flood, “I will establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”

Perhaps among the blind followers who followed this blind prophet were those who really could not read or write. They are literally illiterate. We are sympathetic with people like these, but surely if they attended congregational worship, they would have been taught by faithful pastors and heard the scriptures being read. Surely there would be Christian leaders on TikTok who denounced this self-proclaimed prophet.
Before we mock these followers of Eboh Noah, the scammer-influencer, let us examine ourselves first and discuss this with our friends in church. Are we acquainted with the message of the whole of the Bible? Do we let the message of the gospel dwell richly in us? (Colossians 3:16). Are we in authentic fellowship with other disciples and have we “devoted ourselves to the apostles’ teaching” (Acts 2:42).
