Arsenal Wins the Title, But….

Lord, I am elated that Arsenal Football Club is finally the English Premier League Champion this season. You already know, but I still want to express the way I feel. It’s been a long wait, filled with pride and frustration, anxiety and anger, and now continuous celebration. I feel proud that thousands around the world have publicly poured out their pent-up joy and happiness. It’s been such a long wait of 22 years.

“Son, football has brought great joy as well as celebration to millions around the world. Everyone needs a sense of belonging to something larger, and football and other sports allow them to do that. As long as it does not take My place in your affections, it’s okay. As long as it does not dominate or determine your emotional landscape, it’s okay. Do not let it become an idol in your life. Do not let it draw you into unnecessary expense and into gambling, or draw you away from Me. If it does, then you need to take drastic action. It must not come between you and Me. If it does, smash the idol! Fast from watching or hearing the news about Arsenal. Let this holy neglect break the grip that this sense of belonging has on you. Remember, you belong to Something much bigger than anything the sports world can offer. You belong to Kingdom! You belong to the Church – the Body of Christ. You belong to Me, the LORD of heaven and earth. You belong to the world of eternal beings: of angels and saints who have arrived in My Presence in past generations and centuries.”

This was my journal entry on Tuesday, 25 May 2026.
